Tear Drop Birds

My daughter's friend from art class drew her this adorable little bird. It was so cute that I thought I'd create a crochet pattern for it. Then is was so much fun I had to make a flock. Thought everyone might want to try so the patter is as follows:  Have fun!

Definitions: inc = increase, 2sc in one stitch
dec=decrease, skip on stitch, or crochet 2 stitches together
                    sc= single chain
Choose two colors. One for stomach, another for the rest of the bird. Worked in rounds.
Start with magic ring or chain 2 and start in the sc farthest from your needle.

Stomach:
1- sc5
2- inc around (10)
3- inc + sc, x5 (15)
4- inc + 2sc, x5 (20)
5- inc + 3sc, x5 (25)
6- inc + 4sc, x5 (30)
Body: (continuing from stomach but with different color.)
7-10- 30sc (30)
11- 2inc, (4sc, dec) x4, 5sc (28)
12- inc, sc, inc, 3sc, dec, 4sc, dec, 2sc, dec, 4sc, dec, 3sc (26)
13- 11sc, dec, 3sc, dec, 3sc, dec, 3sc (23)
14- 3sc, dec, 3sc, (dec, sc)x5 (18)
15- 3sc, dec, 3sc, 5dec (12)
This would be a good place to sew on face and stuff. For the face I used buttons for eyes and cut felt for the beak.
16- 4dec, 4sc (8)
17- 8sc (8)
18- 5dec, finish off.

This is, of course, my original pattern, and I am offering it for free for your personal use. Please do not sell this pattern or the items made from it. Thank you.

Here I am. I'm finally starting a blog of my own. I am a mother of two and I work from home. I love all things crafty, but right now crochet or amigurumi is my favorite hobby. Here I will post my many creations as well as some items I've made from other crafters' patterns. Really looking forward to displaying my kind of art work. - Jenn
